Modern Warfare 4's multiplayer beta is shaping up to be a proper hands-on test, not just a short demo. Pre-order players get in from August 21 to 25, while everyone else can join the Open Beta from August 28 to September 1. The full game arrives on October 23, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. If you want extra practice before the servers fill up, MW4 Bot Lobbies may also appeal to players working on basic movement and weapon control.
Access, Invitations, And Vault Edition Extras
The beta opens alongside the Call of Duty: NEXT showcase on August 21 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Some players will receive special email invitations that allow them to enter a few hours early, but there is a catch: you must RSVP. Missing that step can leave the invitation useless, so check the inbox linked to your Activision account. Vault Edition owners receive more than early access. Their beta package includes the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack, skins for Blix, Ghost, Valeria, and Captain Price, plus the Special Forces Operator Pack. The Hunter Killer skin is not usable in this beta.
Weapons And Beta Loadouts
Around 19 of the 24 weapons planned for launch should be available during testing. That is enough to get a feel for the main weapon classes without revealing the whole launch pool. Try assault rifles on medium-range maps, SMGs indoors, and long-range weapons where sightlines stay open. Vault Edition owners also get five weapon blueprints, including four ranged setups with useful attachments already fitted. They can save time, but they will not replace normal weapon practice. Recoil, reload speed, aim time, and movement penalties still matter once the fights become messy.
Ranks, Rewards, And The Reset
Beta progression runs from rank 1 through rank 30. Rewards appear at ranks 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 23, 26, and 30, including an emblem, charm, sticker, calling card, Operator Skin, spray, loading screen, and assault rifle blueprint. The level 30 blueprint is the main target, though it may take both beta periods to reach it if the first weekend has a lower cap of 15 or 20. Cosmetic items and the blueprint carry into the full game. Your beta rank, weapon levels, and regular multiplayer progress do not. Infinity Ward is using the reset to avoid giving early testers a lasting launch advantage.
How To Make The Beta Time Count
Play matches through instead of quitting early, and try objective modes if you want dependable experience from captures, defensive plays, and team actions. Keep checking the progression screen so new rewards do not slip past you. Use the beta to learn map routes, movement timing, recoil patterns, and match objectives rather than chasing one supposedly overpowered gun. Report crashes, connection trouble, matchmaking faults, and strange weapon behaviour when you find them. Stick with the same Activision account at launch, then claim your rewards while exploring cheap MW4 Bot Lobbies for additional practice options.
